When You Are Mad
When you are mad at someone or frustrated over something, your heart palpitates and your lungs hyperventilate. You breathe faster and within a short time you feel light-headed. You can't stop these because they are innervated by the autonomic nervous system. But you can do something else. You can take a deep breath. Then another longer, deeper breath. You think of the more important things in life. You think of things that are more worthwhile to care about. You think of things that matter you more. You also think of things that you'd enjoy more doing them. Nothing is less enjoyable than getting into frustration. So give yourself a pause, maybe a minute or two to think of what you might be doing. If you are doing nothing but feeling frustrated, tell yourself to hold on, and remind yourself that there are better things to do in life. Do your favourite things.
